EURIE 2017 Workshops

EURIE 2017 featured three workshops for the professional development of participating international educators. The presentations used by the trainers of the workshops will be shared with the registered workshop participants only, upon request by email.

INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION NEWS

Asian Universities Alliance

Fifteen leading institutions have come together to form a new Asian Universities Alliance (AUA). The announcement was made in Beijing in April. The initiating institution Tsinghua University has provided seed funding worth 1.5 Million USD. AUA will work to promote student and faculty mobility within Asia and collaborative research among member institutions. In an effort to bring a distinctive Asian perspective to higher education, AUA has drawn high-ranking universities from across the region.

English Language Teaching Programs

Around two million people travel abroad every year for the purpose of learning a foreign language. About two-thirds study English and their leading destinations are US, UK, Australia, and Canada. As the growth rate in the language sector slows down, competition among the destination countries get more intense. UK has suffered a steady decline in its ELT enrollments for three years now. While US maintains its strong standing, affordable destinations such as Canada, Ireland and Malta are growing their share.

Boğaziçi University opens a course on the Internet of Things

Experts from industry will be guest lecturers in a new course offered by Boğaziçi University on the Internet of Things, the rapidly growing technology that will affect all parts of life, from smart cities to various smart applications in agriculture and the healthcare sector. The course will cover such topics as applications in technology, embedded systems, wireless connectivity, sensor technologies and big data analytics.

Koreatech University recognized for university-industry cooperation

KOREATECH was recently selected for the LINC+, which is a special program run by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation. LINC+ is a program that supports university leaders in industry-university cooperation which develop corporations and local communities. The program grants Koreatech funding for five years.
