EURIE 2017 CONFIRMED SPEAKERS
EURIE 2017 conference will have many distinguished speakers sharing their expertise on a wide-range of topics in higher education management. We are already announcing some of our confirmed speakers on our website. Here is a few of our speakers: Prof. Michael Osborne (University of Glasgow) and Dr. Dayong Yuan (Beijing Academy of Educational Sciences) will talk about “Asian and European Perspectives on Lifelong Learning in Higher Education”. Nicholas Sequeira (QS Intelligence Unit) will give a presentation titled “The Importance of Evidence-based Marketing”. Christopher Bland (Coventry University) will deliver a talk on “Quality Standards and Guidelines across Different Academic Cultures”. Prof. Abdelali Kaaouachi (University Mohammed First Morocco) will give a talk titled “Quality Assurance in Maghreb Countries: Current Trends and Challenges”.
EURIE 2017 Panels on InternatIonalIzatIon
EURIE 2017 conference will feature presentations by international educators sharing their best-practices in internationalization of higher education. Presentations will be on a broad spectrum of issues including developing academic collaborations between universities, using regional funds and programs or marketing and recruitment of international students. Here is a small sample of our presenters: Prof. Gianluca Sadun Bordoni (Universita di Teramo) “Interuniversity Cooperation in the Adriatic-Ionian Region”; Jana Stolarikova (Bogazici University) “Erasmus+ Student Mobility and Risk Management”; Asst. OECD Report on ScIence, Technology and InnovatIon
OECD Science, Technology and Innovation Outlook 2016 report released recently shows that spending on research and development in government and higher education institutions in OECD countries fell in 2014. Among the countries with declining public R&D budgets are Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. While the world is facing many challenges ranging from environmental problems to ageing societies, the report warns that “maintaining public funding of R&D, open science and international mobility for researchers is fundamental for the future of innovation and our future in general.”
ChIna to Introduce a NatIonal EnglIsh ProfIcIency Test EU
China will introduce a National English Proficiency Test by 2020 to be implemented by China’s State Council. The announcement was made by the Vice Minister of Education at the 2nd International Symposium on Language Testing and Appraisal in Hangzhou, China. The new system is intended to unify the varying standards currently implemented, combining them into one system that is that will strengthen the consistency of training. The National English Proficiency Test will test competencies in listening, speaking, reading, and writing along with a “pragmatic competence” scale that will test abilities in practical language skills needed to communicate in cross-cultural situations.

TImes HIgher EducatIon Awards 2016
Times Higher Education Awards recognizes the best of UK higher education in nineteen categories that range from individual awards for teaching and research, to institutional categories honoring the universities that are doing outstanding work in such areas as research, innovation, internationalization, entrepreneurship, outreach and student experience. The 2016 University of the Year Award went to London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Glocal UnIversIty IndIa
Glocal University was the Gold sponsor at the FICCIs 12th International Higher Education Summit held on November 10- 12, 2016. The objective of the summit was to explore cooperation opportunities in the field of higher education and deliberate on the ways to attract more intemational students to India. As many as 200 international delegates from Africa, CIS region, SAARC, South East Asia, North America, Israel, Turkey, Taiwan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Indonesia and Tajikistan attended the summit.
